HOPA PORTS GIVES ONTARIO INDUSTRIES ROOM TO GROW

With population and congestion increasing throughout the Greater Golden Horseshoe, industrial operations are feeling the squeeze. Whether looking for space to establish a new business, or grow an existing one, businesses face an enormous challenge.

HOPA Ports is helping to address this need, with a network of multimodal industrial spaces in Ontario cities. HOPA has close to 1,000 acres of industrial lands and 140 tenant companies in sectors ranging from manufacturing to petrochemicals to agri-food.

“Whether you process food products, manufacture goods, or build infrastructure in Ontario, HOPA Ports can create the solution your business needs to thrive,” says Jeremy Dunn, HOPA’s Commercial Vice President. Dunn and his team work with prospective tenants to find the ideal location, make transportation connections, and provide development supports every step of the way.

HOPA has attracted more than $350 million in private sector investments in the past decade, including a flour mill, sugar refinery, petrochemical transload terminal, grain export terminal, and others. “What all of our tenant partners have in common is the need for first-rate multimodal transportation services to support their efficient operations. We can help pull all of those specialized pieces into place and create exceptional value for our customers in the process,” says Dunn.

At the Port of Hamilton, part of the HOPA network, new developments are enhancing the transportation and logistics options available to port users. A newly-expanded terminal operated by Federal Marine Terminals will offer 30+ acres of cargo handling area, including a new 40,000 sq.ft warehouse. Also in Hamilton, a new climate-controlled food-grade storage facility operated by Fluke Transport will enhance the region’s $1 billion agri-food sector. In both cases, HOPA Ports is investing alongside its tenants in new modernized infrastructure, as part of a $20 million capital upgrade plan.
